Les petits cadeaux is based on an early childhood memory of her grandmother teaching her French. Every time she wanted another bite of a sweet treat, she had to politely say, "Je voudrais un petit cadeau s'il vous plaît." The phrase has stuck around.
Katherine Powers Noland received her BA in Art History and Visual Arts from the
University of San Diego in 2010. She now works for her alma mater in
their University Galleries department, helping to manage their
exhibitions and collection of works on paper. Additionally, she works as
the Registrar for the Timken Museum of Art. Katherine's art practice
ranges from textile and fashion design, to paper making, painting, and
printmaking. Her work tends to focus on the dichotomy between
masculine and feminine ideals and is usually subtly autobiographical.
